Father offered the opening prayer at 7:05.

Father Chris’ Comments:

  1. Wendy Sellers resigned her position on Council and Father has appointed Charlotte Pemberton as the new Chair Person until in June. Dave Klisz was appointed Vice Chair Person. We thank Wendy for her ministry in the parish and wish her and her family every blessing.
  2. The Bishop will visit on February 3rd. He will host our 10:15 Mass, then stay for a light brunch and a meeting with finance and parish council members as well as church staff. Please RSVP by the end of January as to if you plan on attending.  The meeting with staff and council members will begin at 12:15 after brunch. Father has asked that brunch be offered after the meeting to help ensure a better turnout of folks. Father will email the schedule once it is finalized. Nell will be putting together the brunch and a meeting is set for January 20th after mass to talk about this reception.
  3. A meeting on Pastoral Planning is set for January 12, 2008 at St. Michael’s from 9-12. Dave, Jane and William plan to attend.
  4. Casino Night is still seeking corporate sponsors and tickets are currently being sold for the event. An item to take note of is the convection oven in the kitchen is broken and should be repaired by Casino Night.

Committee Reports:

Campus Ministry- Students have started the “J” term which is a shorter term than normal. The Guatemala trip is planned for Feb. 2-Feb. 9 and several Catholic students are expected to attend. The Capstone Book sale was a success earning $563.

Community Life- no report. Father has asked that an event be planned for after Mass on Saturday but not for Jay to organize. Other volunteers needed.

Marty Moran shared that last Saturday’s Catechist Appreciation event was well attended. He suggested a similar even be planned for the host of other volunteers within the church.

Father reminded Council that a 5 week Lenten Series will take place on Tuesday evenings with reconciliation on the 3rd Tuesday.

“Catholic 101” a refresher course being considered for persons who would like a review or reminder of why, what, where, when and what of Catholicism. RCIA is one option open to persons wanting such a refresher course.

Amy Flagg shared she was overwhelmed by the number of volunteers offering help with her upcoming 1st Communion retreat and reception. Nell continues to coordinate the reception for the upcoming Easter Vigil.  Also May 18th will be reception for 1st Communion and Confirmation.

New Business:

Father reminded Council that our Mission Statement is out of date and needs to be revised. William Gaspar will send out Glen Crones version to Council members for changes. Once changes are sent back to William he will have it available at our next meeting.

Judy McKinney offered several ideas for social events for the parish to include:

  1. Hosting a booth at the Ashland Strawberry Faire on June 7th.
  2. Hosting an event for the year long Ashland 150 Years Celebration. Judy signed St. Ann’s to sponsor the Richmond Brass Concert.
  3. Hosting a Friends and Family Art Show and Sale as a fun event on a Saturday night with wine and cheese while participants review the various art pieces for sale. Funds earned from this event would go to the Human Concerns Committee. Judy was given the go ahead to form a committee to come up with a possible date to take place either in September or October. Father suggested making it a Saturday evening “Come to the Table”.
  4. Ron Maier asked if St. Ann’s could have a Boy Scout Troop. Father said yes but all volunteers must adhere to the yearly background checks as required by the Diocese.

Next meeting is April 8, 2008
